Help - right click not working!

Postby paulwesterman » 11 May 2012, 14:22

Hi, not sure what I've done but Dopus is not responding to right-click (i.e. not showing the context menu).
It's not slow, it just doesn't show at all. Here's some more info:

Running Win7 64, Dopus 10 (latest) x64
Double right-click opens the file
Right-click works on the desktop and in Windows Explorer
I've run CCleaner and its registry sweep
I've uninstalled/reinstalled Dopus

Any suggestions? Thanks!

You're probably in Power mode and have it set to do something else when the right button is clicked. Try changing to Details mode if that's the case.

Yep Paul, same happened to me yesterday. Right click on any file folder or drive and Dopus V10.0.5.0 on Win7 32 locked up. Re-booted - no change. Re-installed Dopus but no improvement.
I use a thing called Rollback so rolled back to my system state a couple of days ago and now all is fine. But as to why it happened I have no idea - never happened before. And sorry Leo, not in Power mode.
I am always in Details mode, the problem just suddenly appeared. Don't right in Dopus that much but was trying to get into properties of a drive to do an error check and noticed the problem so tried it on some files but it is always locked up DOpus.

OK Leo I managed to trigger the problem.
I have a USB dock for SATA HDD's. I connected the dock with a prepartitioned HDD in it and turned it on. The 3 partitions on the HDD did not appear with drive letters so I went to
Computer management/Disk Management to assign letters with I did and so they appeared in Dopus. Accessed one of the partitions the tried to right flick on a file in the local HDD lister and DOpus locked up.
Restarted Dopus - no change. Rolled back to where I was an hour ago and all is well. Hope this helps diagnose the rpoblem.

If the right click menu caused a lock up then that's different, and probably a shell extension going wrong.

The FAQ on solving problems when right-clicking files is the best place to start for that problem. (Might be worth trying the debug mode it explains for the separate problem of menus not appearing, too. It's possible that a shell extension is taking forever when asked to add itself to the menu.)

I'm experiencing the same issue since today. Right click context menu doesn't show up, anywhere in dopus. Not even in tray icon. Other apps show handle right clicks without a problem.
Haven't installed anything on my laptop in days.

Hmmm, as I was typing this, right click magically started to work again, after not working for more than 5 minutes :-)
