FTP Copy and Abort

Postby uzz » 03 Jun 2007, 03:48

I have problem with aborting copy from local disk to ftp site. Always when I click ABORT while copying, Opus freeze with "changing folder" requester. I must click Abort on this requester to finished aborting of copying file.

Some sites don't respond to the abort request, or take a long time do. Is anything shown in the FTP log (Tools->Output Window) after you press Abort the first time?

I think the second time you click the button it gives up waiting for a response from the server.

1. while copying file:

150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for 'file.big'.

2. after Abort from "copy" dialog:

User Aborted Transfer
Connection closed
Opening Connection ftp.mysite.com:21
220 FTP server (Version 1.0) ready.
--> USER owner
331 Password required for owner.
--> PASS ...
230 User owner@mysite logged in.
--> TYPE I
200 Type set to I.
--> PWD
257 "/" is current directory.
--> CWD /directory
250 CWD command successful.
--> PWD
257 "/directory" is current directory.

(and freeze on "changing folder" dialog)

3. after "abort" from "changing folder" dialog:

User Aborted Transfer

So, I think this is Opus problem. Abort is recognized correctly.

...and other sites works the same. Include "almost local" connection (very close server) with SSL. Always freeze on "changing folder". On passive and active mode.

Abort with FTP can be problematic since you actually have to wait for the server to respond. Multiple aborts can confuse the SFTP library.

Please make a formal report on this issue via the Support page on the GPSoftware web site with details and we can then investigate this further.

By the way - if someone like that old posts - abort copying files to ftp still works bad and still user must click button while never ending aborting process "works".
