A few days of using DOpus and am very happy with it still. Very good to get Win98SE-like control back after XP's extremely pretty, but practically useless interface with user (Explorer, in other words ). XP's Explorer doesn't obey one's commands. It would be alright if it weren't for that. Like MS Word, XP's Explorer tells one what to do and is recalcitrant and disobedient in obeying orders . However, there are a few annoyances that have popped up with DOpus that hopefully can be modified to meet my needs:
-
when I am renaming a file, the filename's selection excludes the extension by default. So it's a fiddle when renaming as I'd just like Windows standard way of highlighting the entire filename to be used when renaming.

I have a preview pane open in every lister. I really need that and it works great except that it tries to preview every single file type which is not desired. It's especially a problem when I'm moving/pasting my varied file-type backup files from work each day and moving them to their appropriate folders. I'm constantly having to cancel the macro warnings and then the password prompts, for example, for my dozen Excel file backups that come up just by clicking on each file before moving. Is there a way to limit what is previewed? I like to use the Windows standard preview file types, such as only any MS Office file that has a preview image embedded put there when initially saving the original file, rather than have the preview try to actually read all Office files, embedded preview image or not! Makes for hassles . Windows web page preview views images of all kinds and MP3 tags and the aforementioned Office files with embedded preview images, html files and a small handful of other file types I'm not remembering at present, but that's about it. I don't need DOpus to do more than what Windows Explorer does in this regard.
Hopefully these things can be changed. Appreciate the help. And good work with DOpus. It truly is great to have a stable program that once you configure any changes, remains as you set it!!!
