A couple of questions for things I haven't managed to achieve

Hello there. I’ve been using Opus Directory for a while and I am constantly amazed by what it can do to the point I recommend it to everyone I know. Naturally, I’ve had many newbie questions when faced with such a rich program, but I’ve managed to get answers by searching here or simply spending more time with it.
After going through this phase, here are some things I still haven’t managed to work out. Hopefully most of them are already possible, if not, please consider them as feature requests.

  1. Unlike Windows Explorer, selecting files/folders by left click and drag doesn't seem possible when you start the click and drag action when the starting position is right next to the files (name column). Is there an option I am missing?

  2. Is there a way to make a button (to eventually drag into the folder tab menu) to show the x (i.e the last 20) recent files opened? I found a way to do that with folders but not files.

  3. How can I show a Collection folder contents (files and subfolders) by expanding it (as well as keep them expanded permanently in the folder tree if I want)? This only seems possible if those are also collection folders and I like having the option to see them without having to click/browse the collection folder.

  4. More importantly and in conjunction with the previous, is there a way to show just the contents from various folders in a File Collection folder without adding the folders in question, themselves or add them but only see their contents? For example, create a "Downloads" Collection Folder and have the contents of "C:\Downloads" and "D:\Downloads\Images" always (meaning updated dynamically) shown into it without their host folders appearing?

  5. When dragging a folder into another in order to move/copy it, is there a way for the destination folder (and its subfolders if needed) to expand sideways as the pre-Windows 10 start menus, instead of opening in place (yet retaining the "in place" function for a hotkey if necessary)? I am used into dragging stuff into folders and keep it there for a pre-set amount of time, before a sideways tree appears from my previous Windows Explorer replacement of choice and I’ve seen Opus Directory doing much more complex stuff, so I suppose this is possible?

  6. Likewise, is there a way to get this "expanded sideways" tree function for folders I've created "Move to..." entries in the main context menu for? I've added one for each of my hard disks as well as an entry where a "select destination folder" opens up upon clicking (when seeking for a solution to pick a destination folder on the fly/not a preset), can I get an "expanded sideways" tree for these too?

  7. Having commands to do so many things in the program, is there a way (natively or with the help of something like Autohotkey's send/send text functions) to just send (meaning without making a button or custom hotkey) those code blocks found in this forum into the program and have them executed?

  8. Is there a way to enter the customize mode without its window popping up, just to allow toolbar editing and moving things around?

Thanks for your consideration and your excellent work developing this amazing program!

Your enthusiasm for Directory Opus is great, but your question would be much easier to answer if you asked only one question per thread and you'll also probably get better more detailed answers.

You may be looking for Preferences / File Display Modes / Details

I think you may be looking for Libraries.

Edit: I quoted the wrong question and had to edit it.

Thanks for the reply David. Yeah, I wasn't sure which way to go about it, I picked this one because I felt like creating so many topics in the same time would be seen as spamming the forum.

The option you mentioned seems like the appropriate one, but I don't see an option to "begin lasso" without holding a modifier key as it's possible on Explorer.

And I am aware about Libraries but of course they don't come with the perks of "File Collections", such as dragging single files into one.

Cheers again for the heads up, greatly appreciated.

I think the key option refers to selection beginning within the filename column.
Does Explorer let you do that ? I doesn't here unless the lasso is started outside the filename column.
In Directory Opus ( Details mode ), outside of the filename column a modifier key isn't needed.

I hope that's correct.
If I'm wrong I do apologize.

It depends on the File selection / highlight style under Preferences / File Display Modes / Details.

Yes,
@Leo is correct. Only part of what I posted is correct.

If you link your account you will probably get more detailed support.
