Hello,
I have several files with names of the format yyyymmdd_hhmmss that I need to change to yyyy.mm.dd_hhmmss. I'm able to do one at a time but I can't seem to do a list of names like any other file naming works.
I tried include a screen shot of my efforts but can't figure that out either.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Beat me to it.
But I caution against using "." in dates unless you really have to. That can create problems when handling files because some programs can get thrown by it. I do a lot of date manipulating and usually go for "-".
\1-\2-\3_\4
At least you are working with a meaningful date format. Too often you see yyyyddmm.

Thank you! That's great help. Where can I read up on those advanced symbols and syntax?

Did you post the wrong screenshot? It seems to show a manual rename...

Yes, I did. It was my attempt to learn how to send a screen shot early in this thread but I thought I had succeeded in removing it before I sent that last response.
Thank you all for a successful conclusion to my effort!
