Your right, I wish there was a way to leave partial matching enabled. The problem with my previous version is that the filter would not turn off during a directory change. Turning the filter off for every directory change is very annoying to me.
Using the latest Directory Opus 10.1.0.3 (beta), AlphaFindV4 toolbar now works properly with partial matching enabled.
Yes it does work with partial matching, hurray! 
Here is a similar version as a toolbar.
It uses commands not scripts. LMB on a letter to get all items that begin with the chosen letter or RMB for all items that have the chosen letter anywhere in the item name. Another LMB or RMB clear the filter. It includes numbers and symbols.
I use it as a vertical toolbar where it takes little screen space.
