Any way to have the 'narrow' visual style of the tree but with [+] and [-] expansion icons instead?

I like the narrower layout when the tree has Tree style = Visual style, but the path highlight looks messy:

Any way to use the normal [+] / [-] icons in the place of those arrows, since they line up nicely with the path highlighter:

No, the indentation amounts are tied to the different visual styles.
