Auto-Arrange files inside folders

Allow me to describe what it is i am trying to achieve.

I have certain hard drives full of media content, and what i want is for the software to search for identical folders and group their files together on a master folder.

For example lets say i have folders named

Lost.s05e03
Lost.s05e04
Lost.s05e05

given that it matches the string "lost", i would like to gather the insides of the folder to a master folder called "Lost".

I would like that to happen with multiple folders and by searching the entire contents of my hard drive, to group them accordingly.

Which way would you suggest i should go about doing this specific task?

You could do this using a rename script (using VBScript, Perl or Javascript), though I'm not sure how you'd make it know which parts of the filename were significant and which were not as that sounds like quite a fuzzy criteria.
