Best choice for archive copies

If you were archiving several TBs of family photos and videos to several external hard drives (they will not have to be updated, added to, or changed), would the safest method be the "Copy" or the "Synchronize" function? I suppose a third alternative would be to use backup software. Also -- would you break the process up or can DOpus handle a very large directory/sub-folders.
Thanks!

If you just want to copy the data, use Copy rather than Synchronize. It's less complicated!

You shouldn't need to break the process up. I've copied full 1TB drives from one to another using Opus without problems.

(Of course, this assumes these are just data folders, without any weird permissions or in-use files. If you want to backup a System drive rather than some data folders, then disk-image backup software is the way to do, IMO. But for just copying files from A to B, Opus's normal Copy functionality should be all you need.)

This may seem like a silly question, but I have no way to test this and feel the answer needs to come from someone very close to the functionality of the program.

I find it more convenient to move files and directories to a new drive ... than to copy them and then have to go back and delete the old files from the source drive. Is the move function as reliable as the copy function? (i.e. if the computer shuts down in the middle of the operation ....)
Thanks!

When you're moving between drives the function is implemented as a copy followed by a delete, and the delete is only performed if the copy was successful. The only thing is that it's on a file-by-file basis so if something does happen and you were copying nested folders you may end up with half of a folder on the new drive and half on the old - but you can just resume the move to finish the job at a later time.
