Blackout Filter

Another file manager has a built in Blackout Color Filter:

Is there a way to do this in DOpus?

Not that i would know of. I wonder, what is the use of that filter, anyway. Privacy, if you make some screenshots?

You could probably do that quite easily with a label filter that matches * and is toggled on & off via a toolbar button.

I don't know why you would want to do that, however.

I bet I can tell you the folders' name by just looking at the length of each black bar.

This is exactly the reason.

Just an idea. For this example i have used some font from a chess program, which also has those figurines. But this font, that also belongs to the same program, is even better, because it looks lighter. So in case you don´t have an appropriate obfuscating font installed, you might want to find some special font somewhere in the web for that purpose, which should be easy (some dingbats should do). It's a little bit incovenient, of course, because you have to change it in the preferences, but if you need it only sometimes, it should be a good workaround.

That actually seems like a better idea. Perhaps I could toggle the font through a script. Not sure how to do that, but something to consider.

Thanks abr!

Why not choose a folder that isn't full of top-secret folder names for the screenshot? If it's for showing how something looks, the blacked-out labels make everything look really bad. If it's for reporting a bug, sometimes the details about what's in the folder matter a great deal. Choosing a more suitable folder to take the screenshot is usually the best way.

That's what I have done to date. Hadn't thought about it from a troubleshooting aspect. Thanks for that!
