Thanks for sending the diagnostic.

I think the problem may be due to this in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.exe\OpenWithProgids\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.exe\OpenWithProgids: "CHERRYUtilitySoftware.exe" is REG_SZ:

There should not be any OpenWithProgids under the .exe type at all.

To fix that:

  • Open RegEdit.exe
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.exe and expand the branch
  • Right-click the OpenWithProgids branch below it, and delete it
