Calculate folder sizes automatically won't work

Calculate folder sizes automatically is set with a tick and the option ‘all local and network drives’ is selected.
Yet despite this setting, most folder sizes aren't displayed. They used to be, darned if I can see why it's changed.

Your Folder Formats may be overriding the global setting.

(Preferences / Folders / Folder Formats, then edit the formats and check the Options tab within them.)

No idea what should be edited.

Quick way to test if my guess is correct:

[ul][li]Go to a folder where sizes aren't being calculated.[/li]
[li]Open Folder > Folder Options (from the default toolbars)[/li]
[li]On the Options tab, check the Get folder sizes setting.[/li][/ul]

If it's set to off, then go through all the ticked formats in Preferences to find the one that's doing it. Or you can save over them all from the Folder Options dialog using the Save button at the top-right.

If it's set to default or on then the problem is elsewhere. Does Edit > Calculate Folder Sizes (Ctrl+L) work in the same folder?

Ha ha Leo. Brilliant! That worked.
I would have thought that DO Preferences would have done that.
Thanks,

Prefs has the global setting, folder formats can override it for individual folders.

They don't override it by default so it must be something you stumbled on in the past and turned on but forgot about. (Unless you've imported someone's shared config, of course, but that's alwayd a bad idea IMO.)
