Cannot get 'Set As Default Lister' to stick

I have gone through the FAQs and I have searched . . .

Hello. I just upgraded to DO 10.2.0.0. I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1. I do not have Administrator rights except temporarily when I install software.

I'm having a devil of a time trying to save the default start up format for a lister the way I like it.

I build a sample with

the Folder Tree on the left,
with Computer expanded to show all my local and network drives,
with one network drive expanded to show all subfolders and files,
and with one primary folder on that drive expanded.

I have set a lister this way then gone to Settings and selected 'Set As Default Lister' but this doesn't work for me.

I have scoured this forum looking for a solution but nothing I have found so far has allowed me to save the default format I want.

New listers always open with Computer expanded to show only the one network drive expanded and the primary folder on that drive expanded as I mentioned above. None of the other local or network drives show until I manually expand Computer.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

The default Lister doesn't save which folders are expanded in the tree.

Which parts of the tree are expanded/collapsed is not saved as part of layouts, styles or the default lister.

The settings under Preferences / Folder Tree / Options give you some control over what will be expanded when you open a new window. e.g.

  • Expand 'My Computer' when tree opens
  • Expand selected branch

Thank you SO MUCH! This has been driving me crazy. Obviously I have a lot to learn about DO . . .
