I am using Directory Opus 10 with Windows 7 64 bit. Sometimes Directory Opus will take up to 5 minutes to show me a window when I try to launch one. At other times it responds normally. I cannot find a pattern. I have no problems launch other programs OR Windows Explorer. This occurs whether I attempt to launch it via an icon, double-clicking the desktop or right-clicking the desktop and selecting a saved lister. It is really impacting my productivity.
I also cannot link my account. I get the message that username or password are not correct, even though I have no trouble signing in here.
Do you have any drive letters mapped to unreachable network shares?
Please send me a private message with details of what you are entering into the linking form. (Don't post them in a public reply, of course.) The linking form should not require a password at all.
Yes, I do have a couple, of mapped network drives. So I gather that Directory Opus is spending time trying to reach those drives. Is there any way to easily call them up when needed but not included in the drives that Opus tries to connect to when it starts?
Yes, it should be. The exact steps to stop the drives being accessed will depend on what is causing them to be accessed now. e.g. Drive buttons list, or folder tree, or a remembered lister (or folder tab within a lister) that was pointing to the drive when you last used Opus.
Note that unreachable mapped drives will cause delays in other parts of Windows, sometimes in places you wouldn't expect, so they are best avoided entirely (i.e. unmapped) if possible, but if not then there are settings/changes you can make to prevent Opus accessing them until you explicitly navigate to them.
