Every once in a while I run into one of my mp3s which I cannot play with Dopus to preview it. If i convert it to .wav I can play it. But if I take that .wav and convert it back to mp3, I still can't play it. I've also tried converting to flac and m4a, and they don't play. I double click and the player window opens with all pay buttons grayed out.
I've attached one of the offending mp3's. Can you guys help me figure out why it doesn't play? Perhaps I need convert them in a certain way for it to work. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

play with Dopus to preview it
You mean like this?
Works here just fine. I'd check the Windows Media Player installation.
If you mean this sound player:
That has very limited support for MP3 currently. It's only really intended to play WAV files (and those should be the only things it handles on double-clicks, by default). It can play some MP3 files but it's more by accident than intent, as the API it uses can do that (depending on the files, codecs, etc.)
Using the preview pane (like in Lxp's post) or a different player is advised for playing MP3s, at least for the time being.
Oh, that explains it. Yes, that's the one I was referring to. I will use the preview pane then. Thanks!
ps. If anyone knows of any small footprint utility, just like the built in sound player mentioned by @Leo that anyone is using that will do the same, I'd appreciate a heads up! I don't need some big, heavy software like itunes or even foobar. The tiny window from the sound player above is perfect for previewing files quickly.

The smallest I can think of is Boom
