Can't Make New Archive

I own v.12.26, running on Windows 10. I'm trying to zip a bunch of files together. I don't get a "New Archive" when I right-click in a directory and select New Folder. I CAN get it via Ctrl-H. Then how do I add files to it?

The "New Folder" command creates a new folder, not a new archive.

There are several ways to create a new, empty archive, including...

In the menu on the right of the New Folder toolbar button:

Via the background right-click menu, New submenu (but only if other tools have installed something there, although you can also add items to the top level of that menu using Opus if you want it to be there):

Various options in the Archive Files menu, as well as the Archive Files button itself:

Once an empty archive has been made, you can go into it and copy files to it the same as a normal folder.

But if you want to zip up a directory, it's quicker and easier to do it as a single operation, without creating an empty archive first. There's almost never any reason to create an empty archive.

The Archive Files menus shown above have several commands for creating an archive of the selected files and folders.

You can also right-click on one or more files and/or folders and use the options in the menu to create archives of them:

(If you don't see those menu items, check Preferences / Zip & Other Archives / Archive Context Menu.)
