Hi, i think i sent a ticket a couple of days ago, but possibly it did not send. im new to the forum.. ive been using opus for over a year. i licences and need to buy some more as they recently expired.
however at the moment opus has stopped opening on my main computer. it tries to open, appears in the taskbar for a second then vanishes again.
this machine has about 3 days left on the free trial but even if the trial had expired i know that application should launch and offer the user purchase/licence options.
i know from the previous ticket similar to this one which was closed that there might not be a simple answer to my problem though i think the other problem the user had hacked the licence which i certainly have not done or tried to do. any ideas would be really appreciated.
ive tried uninstalling then reinstalling which did allow me to open a lister for a few minutes before it closed again. many thanks Eugene Butcher
If you've bought a licence then it won't ever expire so you can continue using it (under the terms of the licence for number of installs etc.). The only thing that might expire after a year is the right to free technical support. I believe that's to avoid having to support people using old versions of Opus indefinitely so I wouldn't worry about it until a new major version comes out.
Regarding the problem with the trial version, all that I know for sure is that everyone who has experienced the issue and bought a licence found that everything worked fine again after installing the licence. If you've decided you want to buy more licences for additional computers and the only thing holding you back is that you're not sure if it's going to work, you can be confident it'll be fine, based on what everyone else (that I know of) has experienced.
I think I'll install a trial version of Opus on one of my machines to see if I get this issue. So far nobody has tracked it down or found a way to reproduce it, and it's hard to know how many of the reports of the issue are caused by hacked versions of the software (which are know to cause the problem).
I should add, if you're running Zone Alarm or a similarly trigger-happy "security" tool, see the FAQs for information on solving the problem. ZA can trigger what you described.
