Can't see properties in find for files in different dirs

Hey,

I have searched the faq and forums but I can't find anything on this:

After doing a find, I want to modify the properties of the files found. However, right click -> Properties is greyed out if the selected files are not all in the same directory. Explorer can handle this without problem.

Is this a limitation in DOp or am I doing something wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

Using 9.0.0.9 on XP 32 bit.

Thank you,
Anakha

I'm not sure why it's like that. I've sent a feature request to GPSoft asking that the Properties dialog be made available in this case.

What do you want to do to the files? For example, if you were going to use the Properties dialog to change their attributes then the Opus Set Attributes command will work in this situation lets you do more than the Properties dialog.

Thank you for your reply. In this particular case, I was going for the encryption settings, which don't seem to be available through the set attributes command.

Is the set attributes available in the find window? I can't seem to find it

Set Attributes seems to let you set/clear the Encrypted flag on files. It should do what you want.

Use the Find Panel instead of the separate Find Window, then you get the results shown in the lister and retain full access to all your toolbars and menus.

If you prefer the Find Window for some reason then you could put the Set Attributes command on the context menu for All Files, but I'm guessing you just didn't realise the Find Panel existed as there aren't many/any reasons to prefer the separate Find Window.

Now I found it, thanks!

Your answers raise more questions  Sorry!

Didn't know about the find panel  I'll use that now. (I remapped Ctrl+F to toggle the find panel, but found that the find window will not toggle OFF when it has the focus -- unexpected behaviour and a bit of a pain).

I also want to adding Set Attributes to the normal list and find window context menus. But when customizing the context menus, I get several options, "Lister Context, Lister ZIP context" etc. I've tried adding a new button to several, but it doesn't show up anywhere. Can you give me a hint?

The context menus that appear when you right-click on files/folders are configured under Settings -> File Types.
