Clipboard_image_paste reverts to PNG

I'm not sure, if this is a bug, but i found, that i can change this setting only for one Opus session, from PNG to JPG. As soon as i restart the program, the setting will be back to PNG, instead of the JPG i have changed it to. Can anyone reproduce this?

So you change Preferences / Miscellaneous / Advanced: clipboard_image_paste, exit Opus, then re-launch Opus and look at the setting, and it has changed back?

Do other settings on the same page have the same problem?

That's correct. It seems to happen only with JPG. If i set it to BMP, it will stick. That's funny. I have tried changing two other settings as well (debug_icon_data, clipboard_image_paste_dpi), they also stayed. So it seems to be a strange behavior, when setting it to JPG, only.

Thanks for checking that.

Could you make a config backup and send it via private message? Maybe if we try with that we'll be able to reproduce what you're seeing.

Sure.

When you restart Opus to check this, are you using File > Exit Directory Opus, or another method?

I was using Process Hacker to restart the program. But as i have just tested, it makes no difference, when i use Opus' own "close PROGRAM" function.

If you routinely kill Opus using an external tool instead of letting it shut down properly it's not surprising your configuration files end up in an inconsistent state.

Jon, i do not do that normally. Opus runs from start to Windows shutdown, so that is the usual termination of the program. In case i have other reasons to restart Opus, i have been using its own routine, close PROGRAM (it's not the default toolbar, but the command is identical in my custom menu).

Having used the Process Explorer for quick restarts was only, because i have checked, what Leo suggested, making several changes, restarting a couple of times. Normally i wouldn't use that tool for common tasks. That was more of an exception.

For future reference, you should never kill Opus unless there's no alternative. Especially if you just made config changes, as you might kill it while it is writing the new config file out.

Using File > Exit Directory Opus, or the right-click menu off the taskbar, is just as quick as any other method, and ensures Opus finishes saving any config data before it exits.

Yes, that's understood. I came across this issue a few days ago, when i pasted some screenshot, finding it was like a 9 MB PNG file. I have changed that, without closing or restarting Opus. Another day the same thing happened again. That's where i found, that the change wouldn't stick.

Fortunately, i practically never have to shut down Opus forcefully, because it simply doesn't freeze. The only exception was quite a time ago, when i struggled with some problems concerning MTP, & my Android smart phone. Like i said, for most of the time Opus runs through the whole computing session, no restarts. Thanks.

This was a bug in the end, which was easy to repro and fix with the help of your config. Thanks for sending it over!

The fix will be in the next update.
