Context Menu Customization

The customization options in DOpus are legion, and the custom context menu options are extremely useful, but I have a question about how the different menu's settings (Files, Folders, Files and Folders, Txt, Zip, etc.) interact with each other.

Here are two different setups and the out put results:

Setup1:
I create an archives submenu with various compress commands under the All Files and Folders Settings. I then go to the 7z, Rar, and Zip settings tabs and setup an archives submenu with various extract commands. The above setup ends up with two archives submenus in my context menu when i mouseover a Zip file.

Setup2:
I create an archives submenu with various compress and extract commands all under the All Files and Folders Settings. this results in the commands all appearing under the same submenu but the extract entries appear on all file extensions.

The point I am trying to make here is that the DOpus menus when customized by File Type seem to not have the ability to be made aware of duplicate commands or submenus, so file type specific context customization seems to be extremely messy.

Conversely when you customize by All Files and Folders, your menu will be organized, but will contain a lot of useless commands, as they cannot be connected to a specific file type.

Am I missing something here? If I am, please set me straight. If i am not, this seems to be a fairly significant weakness in the context menu setup.

I see two possible menu setup changes that could fix the problem.

1st you could sync the context menu setup to all setup tabs with static commands for other setups grayed out and submenus either bolded or colored. this would allow for organization and customization by file type, file type groups, etc.

2nd you could just add a select box to the all files and folders setup, to make specific items apply to certain file types.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks,
Hookem

You could have all of the items in the specific types only, copying the common items to each type.

The editor lets you copy & paste items between different menus so you don't have to manually create the items for each type.

If you want to change one of the common commands later on then it will be a pain having to edit all the copies but you can avoid that by making them run a User Command. In that case you only have to update the one User Command to change what all of the menu items that run it will do.
