i have quite a few animated gifs with the webp extension that will not play in opus. i tried changing the file extension to gif but that doesn't work. all of my file type groups are set up properly. webp images show up just fine. can imagemagick convert these without loss of animation?

Animated gif and webp are completely different formats. You can’t just change the file extension to convert them.

can i convert them with imagemagick without losing the animations?

I just found out that webp supports animations, interesting.

yes. and the opus viewers won't play them. at least not on my system.

I'd use FFmpeg to convert animated images into .mp4 files.

ok. thanks.

i read someplace that ffmpeg wouldn't work. i tried it and it didn't. so i installed imagemagick and it worked like a charm. now i have to figure out how to convert in batch. i've got quite a few files. thanks for your help.
