So it's the camera not Paint.Net adding it? That makes more sense. Although it seems like something that would be better suited to a raw format than JPEG, unless the JPEG was converted from a raw and kept all the metadata.

I've added a workaround for this into 13.0.46 beta (when it's released). If the Google Camera metadata makes things too large, it'll be removed automatically.

Thank you Leo, that's great. I've been using a script to do it so far, but now I can use Opus more comfortably.
I recently upgraded and I can tell you that newer Pixel phones add even more data. With the Pixel 8 Pro you get a vast amount of information when you turn on Pro mode, even with the JPEG.
The idea is to have a JPEG that renders reasonably correctly if the software only understands the basic 8 bit data, but which can also display as HDR.
I'll try it out when I upgrade to 13.
