Look at the attached image - coverarts displayed in jewel case are visibly less contrasty and dimmed. Is it the same for you? (To the left - displayed as a standard thumbnail.)
The CD case image that the covers are blended into has a bit of shine/gloss. The covers aren't copied into it directly but slightly blended with the plastic cover.
