Creating Floating/Docking Toolbars Question

Hello everyone.

I've been using DOpus for about 6 months or so now but I still consider myself a "noob." I'm always amazed at some of the customization ideas I've seen on this forum. Some of you are either too smart for your own good or you need to get out of the house more often. I'm kidding, of course.

I'd appreciate some guidance regarding toolbars. I looked through the posts on each page of the Buttons/Toolbars forum but didn't find anything related to this specific topic.

My question is - when creating a new toolbar and selecting the "Auto-hide when docked" option, is it possible to dock the toolbar to the (right) edge of my DOpus window (dual horizontal view) and have it auto-hide when my cursor leaves the right-side window border?

The problem I'm running into with my idea is that I don't know how to make the toolbar dock (attach) itself to the DOpus window itself. Thus far, I'm only able to dock a toolbar to the sides of my desktop/screen area - i.e. - outside of the DOpus window (since I typically don't use DOpus in maximized view).

Is it possible to create a toolbar that docks - and hides - WITHIN the DOpus window itself or do the toolbars have to be docked to the sides of my desktop/screen?

In case my explanation isn't very good, I'll explain what I'd like to do. I'd like to create a toolbar that houses buttons for various programs I typically access when DOpus is being used. I'd like to dock (attach) that toolbar to the right side of my DOpus window - or even dock it to the bottom (just above the status bar) - so that it hides itself when my cursor isn't hovering over that area. When I need to open one of those programs, I want to hover my cursor over that area and have the toolbar pop up with all of my buttons.

I must be misunderstanding how the dock settings work. I thought I'd be able to add a toolbar the same way any other "standard" toolbar would be added and then just have it auto-hide when I don't need it. I also thought I could drag that same toolbar anywhere within the DOpus window and dock it to that location (along any edge).

Thanks for any help you can provide so that I better understand how to create toolbars. This program is fantastic but I don't seem to have enough time to truly dig into it and totally figure it out.

FYI - after re-reading my post, I didn't think I was very clear about the fact that it's FLOATING toolbars I'm having difficulty understanding. I know how to create "standard" toolbars and relocate them from place-to-place. The floating toolbars, however, don't seem to be able to dock to the inside of my DOpus window (and auto-hide). They only dock/hide to the edge of my desktop/screen.

Thanks again - and sorry for any confusion.

Dock and auto-hide only work for floating toolbars; that is, ones which are not attached to an Opus window (lister). Auto-hide only works when a toolbar is docked to a side of a monitor.

For toolbars in listers, you can create buttons (on other toolbars) or hotkeys which open/close/toggle them on demand. The command to use is like this:

Toolbar NAME="Name of your toolbar" STATE=right TOGGLE LOCAL

(Remove the LOCAL part if you want it to appear in all windows instead of just the current one.)

Thanks, leo.

I had recently thrown around that idea but I didn't know the proper command(s) to use. The info you supplied is perfect!

Also, is there a place (on this forum or elsewhere) that lists these types of commands, a description of what they do and how to use them? Maybe the info is already out there and I'm just not searching for it the right way.

I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area and I know there's a ton of customization options that I'm missing out on because I don't know the commands or understand how to use them. I've been reading through the many posts on how to add various buttons, menu/context menu options, etc. but it would be helpful to see a list of available commands and their descriptions - IF - that's available.

If you (or anyone else) could help get me pointed in the right direction, I'll take it from there.

Thanks again for your help!

The list of commands is in the manual. Push F1 in Opus, then go to the Opus Raw Commands section near the end.

Imagine that - the manual! Thanks again, leo. I guess I need to read through it instead of always using this forum as my primary resource for info. On the other hand, I think that speaks highly of this forum and the quality of info available to us.

Keep up the great work! Your efforts are appreciated.
