Custom toolbar entry field

I've asked these questions indirectly in several posts but have not received a direct answer.

Is there a way to create a new entry field for display in the toolbar?

Is there a way to customize an existing entry field to execute different functionality (similar to customizing buttons)?

Drag the item show below out of Customize to create new Path fields. Once it is on your toolbar you can right-click it to change what it does. Some types of path fields can take additional arguments which are described in the manual.
