I'd like to have a default lister targeting "my computer". So I opened a new lister (windows+o), went to "my computer", and used the "settingd -> set as default lister" menu.
Sounded ok. Now, I want to remove the "file type" column, so I removed it, and again, used the "set as default lister" option.
When opening a new lister with "windows+o" it seems to be ok: it goes to my computer automaticaly, and the "filetype" column isn't here.
Problem is that if I change directory, clicking on C: for example, the filetype column is back.
If I set anything but "my computer" as default lister, and remove the "filetype" colum, it will be ok. Problem only seems to happen when setting "my computer" as default location...
Anything wrong ? Can someone confirm the problem ?
That's with the latest version, on WinXP, and in Explorer replacement mode.
Opened a new lister, went to "my computer", used the "set as default lister" option. The "filetype" column isn't there. That's ok.
Now, if I go to C: for example, the filetype column is here. So as stated in the FAQ, I brought the "folder options" window, removed the type column, and did "save for all folders", and at the prompt, chose "replace all".
Now if I open a new lister, it correctly goes to my computer, without the filetype column, but when going to C: or any other directory, the type column is there.
I tried checking "ignore format of default lister" but this didn't change anything.
My Computer is a virtual folder (edit: "system folder" is the name used in the FAQ; same meaning) so changes to it will only affect that folder and no others.
C:\ is a normal folder so its format will come from one of the things described in the main Folder Formats FAQ. First step, if you're having problems, is to go through the list of all your formats in Preferences and ensure they all have the FileType column turned off.
