Default lister does not appear to work for me

I open up a single lister window, configure it how I want it (columns, column order, sort order) then I select Settings/Set As Default Lister and click OK. I close out all open Opus windows and open a new instance and it is back the the original lister settings. It did not open this new (default?) windows with the settings I just made. What am I doing wrong?

Which method are you using to open the new window?

Hi Leo,

I simply start a new instance of Opus (pinned to my taskbar)

Opus normally (but optionally) continues running in the background. If you are fully closing it down and then re-launching it, what opens is down to Preferences / Launching Opus / Startup.

I went into Task Manager (Windows) and killed the Opus Directory process and the Helper process. Re-ran Opus but again I get my original lister. I checked under Preferences and both from Desktop and from Taskbar icon have Open Default Lister selected.

Maybe there is another way to force in a default lister? Am I ok assuming that if I change columns, column order, and sort order that all three of those are preserved into the default lister?

Thanks very much!

The default lister isn't what (normally) controls which columns you see.

Got it!! Thanks you Leo.

Given that you created this FAQ like 15 years ago, you must be a total saint to be so patient with me on it!!

Thanks again,

Marc

I can see why you might think the Default Lister stored that. Something we're thinking about clarifying in the UI somehow.
