Deleting a junction deletes the target too

I have a junction on my desktop that links to a folder on a second drive. When I hit the delete key it asks me "Really send the junction/link 'XYZ' to the Recycle Bin?". If I click Delete, it will remove the junction AND the target. This is really really bad. If I undo and then repeat the action, this time only the junction is deleted.

Thanks,

Mike

Which version of Windows are you using? If it is earlier than Vista, the shell itself did not support junctions properly, but Vista onwards should be good.

Deletes using the Recycle Bin are generally handled by the shell itself, so I'd expect the same to happen if you do the same operation on the same junction in Explorer. Is that the case, or are you only seeing this in Opus?
