Deleting File From NAS Drive ( Confirm File Delete First )

Hi

Finally starting to get my way through DOpus such a great program but this could be a windows OS related issue.

Using Vista OS 64 BIt

Running a NAS drive on the network is there anyway of confiming prompt when deleting a file rather once its deleted gone for ever.

Grandma always said better off killing two birds with one stone but this only needs one stone LOL

Cheers,

Prefs -> File Operations -> Deleting Files has all the options.

(When deleting to the Recycle Bin, the Windows Recycle Bin settings can also have an effect but I don't think the Recycle Bin will be used when deleting files from a NAS device.)

Hi Leo,

Once again thnx

Cheers,

Leo,

Is their anyway when deleting to send the files to Recycle Bin rather than they delete straight from the NAS drive gone foever.

Cheers,

No, Windows doesn't support Recycle Bins on network folders.

If you have certain versions of Windows at the other end then you can use Shadow Copy / VSS (like "Previous Versions" in Pro/Ultimate/etc. versions of Vista and Windows 7), which is similar.

Hey Leo,

Thnx for the fast reply.

Have looked at shadow copy but does not suit what we are doing just thought if their was anyway of trapping the files into the bin first.

I wish one day they come up with something so we can send them to the bin first. Even if its a third party app.

Cheers,

I don't know what brand NAS you have but the one I have (QNAP) has what it calls a "Network Recycle Bin" share folder. All files deleted from the NAS go to the NRB.

Though I have this feature disabled, it's very nice to have it there as an option.

Hey nuspieds,

We have a WD sharespace 4TB.

Cant seem to find if we have that feature but hey is no Qnap wish is was now.

Its those little things that count as they say.

Cheers,
