Desktop double-click only works for a limited time (AVG Tuneup)

I have an intermittent problem with the double click launch of Opus 12.21 x64 from the desktop.
This occurs both on my PC and laptop, both running W10 x64
When I change the option in 'Double-click on the Desktop' in preferences, then 'apply' and 'OK', the double click action works correctly, but only for a limited time.
I do not receive any error messages.

First thing to check, next time it stops working, is if dopusrt.exe is running in Task Manager. This is the process that handles desktop double-click and if something is killing it periodically (e.g. anti-virus) it would explain why it stops working after a while.

Thanks Jon, it's not currently a running process.

Something is probably killing the process if it is not running when the Preferences option is still on.

Probably antivirus or something misguided that tries to "clean" up processes it doesn't think are needed.

(The Start-Up tab in Task Manager can also affect whether or not it's able to start after a reboot, although I don't think that would kill it once it has already been started.)

It was my AVG Tuneup that was 'putting it to sleep' after I had finished using it.
Turned off that function and all is good.
Many thanks for the tip, much appreciated.
