Different settings for DOpus and the windows shell?

I'm using portable DOpus on my pendrive. And I wondered if there if there was a way I could use mye own apps on the pendrive to explore files, rather than using the shells default setting when double click.
I need to do this without modifying the system settings.

This is not that important to me, but would it be possible to use custom icons within DOpus as well?

You mean for filetypes? Opus lets you change filetypes' icons but I think the icon changes are always written to the registry.

So if you're using USB mode and want to avoid changing the host registry then I don't think you can change filetype icons.
