Answering my own question:

  1. Create a new user command having

C:\sridhar\AHK files\MiddleClick.ahk

  1. The above AutoHotKey file has

Send {MButton}

  1. In DOpus Preferences, Listers -> File Display and set double click on file display background to run the user command defined in step 1.

Since DirectFolders displays its menu upon mouse middle click, the menu is shown every time I double click in the empty space of the lister thus bringing all my favorite folders quickly at the mouse position.
