Directory Opus 11.10 x64 crashes

Since the upgrade to version 11.10 Directory Opus crashes every time I use it and Windows produces the following:-

6.3 9600 (0x67): Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center ProfessionalWMC 9600.17476.amd64fre.winblue_r5.141029-1500 Unknown Multiprocessor Free X64 1033 3860 dopus.exe 00000000 115285652 601591808 523575296 2422959 186679296 95657984 1864152 1863912 173952 74560 63344640 160088064 63344640 6992 dopusrt.exe 00000000 115498574 98934784 97742848 2093 7569408 7569408 166304 165904 10096 9456 2342912 2428928 2342912 APPCRASH dopus.exe 5.0.1.30 5493780b axTotalConverter64.dll 1.0.0.0 5322a0c9 c0000005 000000000000ad29 6.3.9600.2.0.0.256.103 2057 873d 873d5a807abfc57af4c921f04df5270d 0b6e 0b6ec756f4e4af5a5f397660ac592403 EECF59F1-3FA5-4C7B-92A1-43AA4CCA3572 ASUS All Series 2012 1411173715 1 {77fa9abd-0359-4d32-bd60-28f4e78f784b} 0000000B 16 NULL

I also attach a wer report and a triagedump file.

Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue?

The crash is occurring in a third-party DLL called axTotalConverter64.dll which seems to be part of "TotalPDFConverter", "TotalImageConverter" and "TotalMailConverter".

There could be several ways to fix it (including uninstalling those programs) but the best way depends on what's triggering the crash. Does it happen when you right-click on files? Or when reading folders? Or... ?

Many thanks for your very prompt and helpful response.

It occurs when I am reading folders.

I do not know what TotalPDFConverter is but I am sure I have not knowingly installed it. I will now try to discover where it is and uninstall it.

The Crash, exit or high CPU when viewing certain directories FAQ may also help.

I have identified that the offending dll does indeed belong to Syncfusions TotalImage Converter and I have uninstalled it and will perform tests to see whether that has resolved the problem.

Incidentally, the instant I uninstalled the program I received an email from Syncfusion asking why I uninstalled their software. I have informed them of the issue and they too will examine the problem.

I will also look at the topic that you mentioned.

I have now conducted further investigations and established that:-

  1. The offending dll (axTotalConverter64.dll ) was actually installed in Program Files (x86) - the 32 bit Windows Folder
  2. When Total Image Converter is installed it inserts axTotalConverter.dll and axTotalConverter64.dll in the 32 bit Program Files folder. This must be an install error!
  3. I removed axTotalConverter64.dll from the 32 bit Program Files folder and am delighted to report that since then both Total Image Converter and Directory Opus work flawlessly.

This resolves the issue.
