I am planning on installing an explorer replacement on some computers at work, I would like to use DOpus. The problem is that all of the computers use Deep Freeze, so some changes the users make to DOpus will be forgotten after a reboot - since some of the configuration settings (from what I understand) are stored in the registry (The registry must be frozen.) This is important for ftp and the like because they change on a weekly basis. Is there a way to to store the configuration files outside the registry so that changes made will stick? And if not, what configuration information is stored in the registry? I need to see if I can live with some information not being able to be configured.
Opus 9, out soon, no longer uses the registry to store configuration data.
Until then (which isn't long now), you could do it by automating a config export/import at appropriate times, but that's probably not worth the hassle if you can wait for Opus 9.
ah, well I guess I will wait then. When can I expect to look at opus 9?
Shortly after it's released.
