Directory Opus has encontered a program error

Hello:
I can't imagine life without DOpus! I'm a registered user of Directory Opus 9 using version 9.1.1.7.3307.x86 on a Dell Dimension 4600i, 3 Gb RAM, with Windows XP Pro - SP3.

For the past week I've periodically received the error bug dialog below:

Directory Opus has encontered a program error.
We apologise for the inconvenience.

The error (0xC0000005) occurred in thread dopus_fileinfo at address
0x06D803AC.

The thread that encountered the error may be non-critical and it is possible
that it can be safely terminated allowing Directory Opus to continue running.

However, the behavior of Directory Opus after terminating this thread can
not be guaranteed. Would you like to try to terminate this thread?

                                                       [Yes] [No]

I don't know / understand what registry item is generating this problem.

When the bug dialog shows I select Yes and continue the program. Directory Opus does not crash, but to assure myself, I exit Directory Opus and re-start it.

Sometimes this bug occurs when I'm using DOpus directly, sometimes it occurs while I'm working in another program.

Would appreciate some advice.

Thanks...

For steps to track down the cause see the FAQ: Crash, exit or high CPU usage when viewing certain directories.

If you recently installed any plugins try disabling them first and restarting Opus.

If not then it's most likely to be a video decoding problem (video codec or splitter installed on the system going wrong with certain files), though it could be a number of different things. The FAQ tells you how to track if down.
