New To Directory Opus. I am a photographer with lots of images to sort out, large folders of photos to redistribute into smaller folders of photos by capture times and date, the folders to be renamed sequentially.
For example - Lots of images taken in burst mode so 8000 images (36MB each) from on grass track racing event in one unmanageable folder.
Where should I look for help in Directory Opus in general to solve this challanges?

You'll get almost everything done with Renaming with Metadata.
For this specific task I can recommend Group Burst Shot Images.
If you just want orgnize photoes by date and time, the special tools should be a better way to do it.

I've used this tool before, It can scan photoes and move then to a repository seperated by subfolder with date.
"ZhaoDeBiao" is just for give tags to photo's file name, then you can find by Everything with keywords, it can find duplicate files when you give tags to photo, but it can't remove duplicate photoes by one key effort.
"ZhaoDeBiao" currently can't move photoes to subfolders by date automatically, my purpose is to move photoes to a more meaningful folder not just folders by date.
Unfortunately, there is no version in english currently, I don't know if there many people need to rename photoes with meaningful tags, it's a hard work to rename 10,000 photoes or more, and can't get benefit immediately.
If there are many peoples need meaningful tags with their photoes around the world, I'll try to make a english version, but it may take long time for the gui, code, and manual to be written in english, and also need a test to make functions work suitable.
If there are people interesting in this tool, please reply under this topic, let me know if it is valuable to do this.

It may help my historic mess when I was learning and taking but images are on too many disorganised hard drives etc. lots of different images with the same file names.
These data are now all one one NAS as part one of sorting this out
To me renaming is now part of the way I organise and avoid duplicate names. If it were easy it would be in more workflows.
I could work with you if that helps and/or as I have just started using it Chat GPT could speed things up.

I am a professional photo organizer. I specialize in organizing huge messy digital photo and video collections. I rely on Duplicate Cleaner 5 (by DigitalVolcano) for removing duplicates, and on Directory Opus for most other tasks.
Removing duplicates should be done before any organizing. I don't rename photos until all duplicates have been removed, because with Duplicate Cleaner, filenames are helpful for identifying duplicates, along with many other file properties and metadata fields.
The 'Date/Time Original' field/column in DOpus (and Duplicate Cleaner) is the only reliable field for photo dates.
You can use the Rename dialog in DOpus to rename photos by Date/Time Original. The rename dialog can also be used to sort photos into folders by date.

There's nothing unreliable about the other fields, even if you don't personally find them useful.
I'll clarify in the hope of helping anyone who works with digital photos:
Having tested working with dates of probably 15 million digital photos, I can assure you that the EXIF DateTimeOriginal field is by far the most reliable indication of when the shutter was pressed on a camera.
I do find many other date fields useful for various other purposes.
But for the organizing tasks mentioned in this Topic, like renaming files (renaming photos starting with the date is a common practice) and sorting photos into folders by date, it's the only field that should be used for those tasks.
EXIF DateTimeOriginal is the first field photo applications check for a photo's date when determining what date to display in the field applications label as 'Date Taken', Capture Date', 'Timestamp', etc.
Other date fields that do initially display the date the shutter was pressed, including file/system Date Created, Date Modified, and Exif Modify Date can change when a photo is:
But none of those actions will change the EXIF DateTimeOriginal.
A photo can have a 'Date Taken' or 'Capture Date' but not have an EXIF DateTimeOriginal, so the dates displayed in those fields for photos without an EXIF DateTimeOriginal can change.
I don't consider other fields, like IPTC DateCreated, to be reliable because not all applications look at that date field.
The photos I organize for clients are typically gathered from old computers, hard drives, CDs, thumb drives, Google Photos, Dropbox, Apple Photos, and other Sources.
Between 5% and 20% of photos in every collection I have organized lack a date in the EXIF DateTimeOriginal field. Every one of those photos will display a 'Capture Date' in applications that use that field. In applications with a 'Date Taken' field, like Directory Opus and File Explorer, a date will be displayed for some photos without an EXIF DateTimeOriginal field if, for example, they were converted or edited.
So, EXIF DateTimeOriginal is the only date metadata field I have found to be a reliable indication of when the shutter was pressed.
However, an EXIF DateTimeOriginal (and other date metadata fields) can be wrong if the camera date was not properly set.

Directory Opus is the best application I have found for organizing digital photo collections. An important factor in that is that there is a column for Exif DateTimeOriginal.
A tip for everyone is to keep the folder structure (and not just the parent folder) because people often give folders meaningful names that can help when figuring out dates, like this:
One thing I do for every project is filter for photos dated YYYY-01-01 that were not taken with a modern cell phone/mobile phone.
There is also an important Directory Opus Preference I use:
I make sure that box is unchecked because file/system Date Created or Date Modified can be correct (or close) for photos stripped of Exif metadata. So, I don't want those dates to change when I'm organizing.
I often find duplicates between photos with Exif dates and 'Undated' photos. Once those duplicates are removed, and other any date clues have been checked, I see if the photos look like they were taken on the file/system date.

Is there ways that I can integrate languages to plugin? currently the XML for controls I can find is only one title property,
In the manuals I found language overlays , but my DOPUS version is limited to Chinese , so I can't use this function.
I'm looking for if there is a way that I can write xml included in the plugin(not a seperate file on disk), and the code read that xml then set titles for each controls by the DOpus.language value.
