Display fonts...monospaced or nonmonospaced?

Here's something I'm curious about...the display fonts used in DO. What does it default when it's installed and what would be the ideal font size for laptops with 1024x768 displays? Mono or non mono? Any font suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The defaults come from Windows and vary with different versions of Windows. You can find out what they are for your version of Windows by resetting the Colors & Fonts page of Preferences, via the File menu in the Preferences window. (So long as you click Cancel, and not OK or Apply, afterwards then the reset won't be saved.)

The default fonts are not monospaced but you can use monospaced fonts if you want to.

Monospaced fonts take up more space:

Okay...let's suppose I want to use the Serif font Fairfield Medium 55 for the default font for DO...how do I go about doing this without upsetting my Windows system font setting. In other words...I want the font to be used only by DO...and not the Windows subsystem. Can this be done safely?

Just change it in Opus Preferences, you can set any font you want for pretty much anything...
