Is there a way of displaying the contents of an archive (zip, rar or 7zip) in the Infotip. I am using Opus 9.1
I don't think it's possible in the current version.
Any chance of that happening in the future ?
and display archive comment ?
If you want features adding you should write to GPSoftware. The link is in my signature.
The Description field handles that, I think.
WinZip adds this feature for zip files. I use WinRAR by default, but have trial Winzip installed for the infotip. Only works for zip files though.
"Displaying archive contents in Infotip"?? this must be a typo. what if an archive contains 1000 files and folders? should the Infotip show all that? The correct thread title is "Displaying archive comments in Dopus 10"
hi all, since we're here in the Help&Support forum section, please could someone post the solution for the "ZIP-archive comment" problem? I would love to see my ZIP-comments in either the viewer pane or as infotip.
Someone who has programmed this infotip already (or viewer pane), please could you share your solution?, thanks.
I think he really was asking about archive contents. Opus does that for folder contents so it's not an unreasonable idea. (It only shows the first few filenames.)
This is what WinZip shows, which comes in very handy. An similar Opus feature would be great. It would be nice if the folder contents listed it in a similar way.
Actually, it does in fact work in Opus 10... though the display format is different than than which WinZIP shows above...
Edit the filetype for your zip files and on the InfoTip tab add: {foldercontents}
We tried this in v9 and I don't think it worked... but it works now in v10:
Thanks all, merci AlbatorV. I have understood. Now it is easy to prove that the whole thing doesnt work flawlessly.
Sometimes the folder contents are shown in the tooltip along with the ZIP comment, sometimes not -- for the same ZIP file (which has a true ZIP comment). In other words, the {foldercontents}{desc} combination works.. but not always.
there is some flaw.
It does indeed seem to be a bit screwy... in a quick test, I observed that a zip file created by PowerArchiver, with a comment added as well - behaved inconsistently.
From no apparent pattern I can detect - I saw:
- it shows only the first three codes mentioned above
- it shows the first three codes above PLUS the zip comment / {desc}
- it shows all of that PLUS the folder contents
- hitting F5 to refresh the lister after it stopped showing the folder contents, then mousing over the file again sees the folder contents flash by in the infotip momentarily, then disappear.
Be sure to report the issue to GPsoft via their support webpage (link in my signature).
