In DO12, this still doesn't work. If i have an unique accelerator key in some other toolbar than the main one, pushing "Alt" shows the underscores indicating the presence of an accelerator key, but pushing the key has no effect.
It works if you push and hold Alt, then push the other key before releasing Alt.
If you push and release Alt without pushing another key, it seems to give keyboard focus to the first toolbar.
No, that does not work here, definiteley. Is it maybe, because it's a toolbar, which is usually hidden? Of course it's toggled on, when i try. I have changed the mnemonic key to see if it makes a difference, but it does not.
Alt+h opens the Help menu on the default Operations toolbar here.
If I turn on another toolbar which is usually turned off, and add a menu called &Abr, then Alt+a opens that.
For some reaso it doesn't work here. If i click the button, or use the shortcut, no problem, But using the accelerator keys, even with the Alt key still held down, doesn't. Here is the command to turn on the tollbar, if that's maybe a hint:
Toolbar NAME=rename TOGGLE Line=2
Works here, even with that.
If the first toolbar is still highlighted, push Esc until focus is back to the main file display, then try.
Well, in that case, i have to give up. I remember having reported this already, when DO11 came out. Same issue until now. By the way, i can't keep the Alt key held down, then pushing Esc. Even if it would work, this is no ergonomic way to work with keyboard shortcuts. It ideally should be so, that i push the Alt key, then the underscores show up, then push the "5", which is the numeric accelerator key, because "Alt-5", with the Alt key still down, is actually in use for some label color assignment (i had that turned off, for the test), 6 then have the rename action.
I don't bother to install some screen recording software now, to prove, that is just does not work. But i would appreciate, if some other user of the german version could also test it. Maybe there is some glitch/difference in the two version, which causes it to not work here?
I think I can reproduce Abr's problem.
At first I checked if anything happens if I press , release then press <9> or hold and press <9> together. Nothing happened, so I assume this accelerator is not in use, couldn't make it out by eye either. Then I added "&9" to some button title on a toolbar positioned in line 3. Pressing or holding shows the "9" to be underscored, but pressing <9> has no effect, wether is still held down or not.
Adding "&9" to a button in a toolbar positioned in line 1, is different. Here I can press , release and then press <9> to run the button, which was not possible on the other toolbar.
I run an english Windows 7 with regional settings set to be german.
DO itself is running in english.
Thanks for confirming this obscure bug, tbone. Looks like the line position is possibly responsible for that.
On secondary toolbars, it works for menus but not top-level buttons, it seems.
