I can't reproduce this so far, at least not just by selecting a folder and turning on the option.
What are the other details of your Rename dialog setup when it happens? Could you show a screenshot of the full dialog immediately before you turn the option on?
There should be a crash dump created. If there is, please zip and email it to leo@gpsoft.com.au as it should tell us where in the code the crash is happening.
