This stuff is confusing me. When you change between "within" "before" etc, the input boxes are sometimes not available...

I expect so. We're very early in the beta with a lot to do so I can't guarantee when things will happen, but it will have to be fixed at some point before the proper release.
It's a beta of a major version with lots of changes only we have tested before now, so expect bugs!
It's funny because I usually very seldom experience bugs in using beta apps.
