DO9 under Vista
Hi,
Explorer replacement is not fully functional on my machine.
I.e., the Windows Start Menu program folders do still open in Explorer.
It worked 100 per cent with DO8 under XP.
Best wishes
Jens

It's possible Explorer isn't calling ShellExecute on the folder paths you type into the Vista start menu.
"start ." in a command prompt still opens Opus so I'm guessing the start menu may be explicitly calling Explorer. I don't know for sure though.
In Vista, you must right-click a folder and choose Open in Directory Opus. I might be wrong, but I believe this is(was) covered in our Release(Beta Release) notes at one point (what everyone now has access to as Opus 9 Release Notes was updated and given to us with each new Beta.pdf).
Opus 9 installed on XP, does not display the context menu item Open in Directory Opus when I right-click Start Menu folders, but on Vista is does.
In case anyone reading this gets the wrong end of the stick, this only applies to the Start Menu.
You can double-click folders on the Desktop (etc.) to open them in Opus the same as in previous versions and on XP.
Hi,
there is another problem with the explorer replacement under vista 64 (I know )here.
The vista update (wuapp.exe) and some functions of vista like backup & restore can not be started. I get an error message, which i can not translate (sorry, i get the mesagge in german. It is something like: there is no program to execute this file... ).
If explorer replacement is disabled or Dopus9 is unistalled everything works as usual.
Question: is this issue known by developers and will vista64 be fully supported with an upcoming update.
Thanks
I think the Win64 explorer replacement issues are known, there's a thread about them elsewhere in the forums.
GPSoft have said a 64-bit version of Opus will be released later in the year. Until then, if anyone works out workarounds (e.g. registry changes) for issues on 64-bit Windows please forward them to me or add them to a thread and we will collect them together into a 64-bit FAQ to help other people on 64-bit Windows.
