Don't want folder tree subfolder indicators to fade out

(I.) (Opus 11) folder tree subfolder indicators

Request:

a) Problems with fade-out of arrows indicating subfolders in tree view.

When hovering over the tree view, small arrows are shown that indicate whether a
folder has sub folders.

  1. I cannot see the advantage of fading out those arrows when the mouse is not
hovering over the tree. It's a useless animation very untypical of DOpus philosophy.
the user is no longer able to find out by means of a quick glance where a folder
has subfolders or not. Instead he is forced to move the mouse.

  2. Even worse, when dragging an object to the tree view, the arrows are not shown.
This leads to situations where the user does not expect a folder to suddenly expand
when the user waits a few milliseconds (for some reason, e.g. to stability mouse pointer
when on the road). Subsequently in some situations the tree view will auto-scroll
after that folder unexpectedly (no arrows were visible) expands, leading to an unwanted
    move operation (wrong destination).
#2 would obviously be fixed if the arrows were always visible. So instead fixing the
issue by fading them in not only on simple mouse hover but also on drag and drop, it would be
best to not ever fade them out in the first place. I found no option to prevent fade out.

The fade-out is part of the Windows tree control's visual style.

You can switch to a different style to and it will no longer fade out.

Under Preferences / Folder Tree / Appearance set Tree style to either Lines or No Lines (anything other than Visual Style).

Hello,

yes I know, but "Visual style" has a huge advantage in that it require far less valuable horizontal space. Hence it would be very beneficial if the user could profit from the advantages of both the classic (lines/no-lines) and the visual style. Just like you offer an advances version of "Lines", namely "No Lines", you could offer a forth option "Visual style without fade-out".

Cheers!

PS. Thanks also for editing my title subjects, that was a bad idea to leave a reference to the original posting there. Sorry!

(OFF-TOPIC: PS. And again, please consider leaving just a mere 1-2 minutes to edit a post after sending. Lots of users have a robust habit of posting and THEN proof-reading. I understand that leaving indefinite time / or 2 hours / or 30 minutes, or even 15 minutes may result in lots of problems, but 2 minutes would possibly improve quality of the forum without any mentionable negative side-effects. And if one is afraid of post-editors, all one has to do is wait 2 minutes before reading a newly-posted post. In 99,99% of situations there should be no problem.)

phpBB doesn't allow that without making it impossible to edit old posts in the downloads area.
