DOpus 10 Issues (My Computer)

hey there,

i have a few (two) small issues with the new dopus version.

  1. my network drives wont shown up in the "my computer" place when they are not available/reachable.
  2. i setted up the "my computer" as shown in the screencast (grouped view, sort by name, details) - but if i open a new lister, it will show a non grouped lister. if i go to any directory and back to "my computer" everything is ok.

i hope you can help me.

thanks. volker.

1a. Are they mapped drive letters or some other kind of network drives?
1b. Do they show up in Explorer?

  1. Use Settings -> Set as Default Lister to update your default lister when you have My Computer looking like you want.

Sorry, just seen the video and I see it answers my first two questions. (I thought it was only about the 2nd.)

Does setting Opus to show "empty" drives in Computer have any effect? (Preferences -> Folders -> Virtual Folders)

hey leo,

yes, the "show empty drives" has the effect that my dvd-rom is shown. but nothing else.

with the default lister issue: i tried to set that up at least 10 times. but still the same effect. thanks.

Are you opening the default lister, or some kind of layout? What action have you got Opus configured to do to open a new window?

I think you'll need Jon to look at the network drives as it's not something I'm familiar with.

hey leo,

i configured dopus to open a standard lister by default on double click on desktop (and on every other option to open a new lister). nothing special defined. in dopus9 everything worked fine.

maybe i should deinstall dopus and reinstall it without my old config?

greets, volker.

// edit:

i found out, that when i open a new lister with win+e, everything is fine. by double click on desktop or tray icon the weird behavior pops up. maybe that helps.

So "Open the Default Lister" is selected?

You say 'standard lister' so I think sure we're talking about the same thing but not 100%. (Sometimes people call their usual layout things like that to confuse things.)

In case we're looking at different translations of Opus that use different words, here's a screenshot showing the option I mean:

So, if that is checked, and you then set up a lister showing Computer and make it look how you want (in this case, just go to another folder and come back to Computer), and use Settings -> Set As Default Lister, then it's that setup which should be reproduced when you double-click the desktop...

The only extra thing I can think of is Preferences -> Launching Opus -> Default Lister page... On that, there's a setting that makes Opus ignore the default lister's format (but turning that on would help, if anything, since you are getting the right format when you visit the folder after opening the lister). There's also the setting, on the same page, to update the default lister whenever a lister is closed; that might be confusing things, I guess.

hey leo,

that option was checked.

the method to set a new default lister worked now. a little weired for me, but hey, it works. thanks for this tip.

hopefuly we get a solution for my network drive problem.

best wishes, volker.
