How do you tag your files?
I haven't heard about the Google Search lawsuit.
Yes, Windows has a DTS function, but you can't control it, or not well. It takes a lot of resources when indexing a hard drive (and my drive is large, has a lot of PDFs, and takes about a week to index). Copernic can be easily paused, takes farily low resources in normal indexing mode but still gets in the way a bit, and also has an unrestricted mode that I can let run over-night. Also with CDTS I can better control what is indexed.
As with many stand-alone programs (like Dopus) that have features that are replacements for features that are already in Windows, CDTS and (while it was still available) GDTS simply do a better job. That is why they exist and became popular.
You can pause the indexing in Windows Search as well. There's a big "Pause" button in the main indexing UI.
Yes, but it's either on or totally paused. CDTS can work at a reduced speed or full speed, as required by the user. Also, indexing progress can be monitored. I have tried both WDTS and GDTS twice (because CDTS isn't perfect either), and have always gone back to CDTS. My ranking of them, best to less satisfactory) is: CDTS, GDTS, WDTS.
Not that I have noticed. If you use the "Search" in Windows menu, you may get your alternative.
But if you try using Windows search in Dopus, you don't jerk X1 into action. Maybe they need to tweak something. I will investigate.
