I have a reproducible crash that has been happening for a few releases now - I am currently running beta version 10.2.0.4 (4723) x64.
It happens when I link to my home theatre PC on my local network (which has a different password to my local PC) in Dual Vertical mode (showing both folder trees and listers).
In the left hand panes I have file slisted on my local PC. I selectthe right hand lister and enter the address \remotepc. Dopus then shows two password dialogues (one for the folder tree and one for the lister). I enter the userid and password for the lister, tick the box to remember credentials and click OK.
The lister then shows the remote pc's folders and files in the lister.
I then click cancel in the folder tree password dialogue and DOPUS crashes.
When I restart DOPUS and access the remote PC it all works OK , no password required - Presumably as the credentials have been saved?
Is the remote machine running Windows or something else?
It is running Windows 7 x64.
I'll test out the other scenarios and update this thread shortly
What made you think the 2nd dialog was for the tree originally? When the tree is turned off, is anything different about the 2nd dialog?
If you do the same thing in Windows Explorer, is the dialog it shows exactly the same as the one Opus shows (i.e. same look & feel as well as asking for the same information)?
Unfortunately, the crash details indicate that Windows could not tell which module (DLL) the code which crashed came from. It could be a bug in Opus but it could also be a bug in another component.

If I enter the userid/password in the left hand dialogue firstthen Dopus fills the folder tree with content from the remote PC and the lister remains empty. If I fill the right hand dialogue then the lister is filled with content from the remote PC and the folder tree is empty. So that's the reason why
If I use File Explorer then it works OK and only one dialogue is shown. It is exactly the same as the ones Dopus is displaying. The two dialogues Dopus is displaying are identical.
Just to be sure, the dialog looks just like this one?
There may be a crash 'minidump' created with information that may help work out where the fault is:
[ul][li]In Opus or Explorer, type %TEMP% into the location field and push Return.[/li]
[li]Look for a sub-folder called DOpus.Minidumps.[/li]
[li]If the folder exists it will contain one or more .dmp files, timestamped with the date and time of each crash.[/li][/ul]
If there are .dmp files with datestamps corresponding to any of these crashes, please zip them up and send them to us. You can send them in a private message to me or Jon, or if you prefer you can email them to me: leo@gpsoft.com.au
All three of them look similar and suggest (although it is not conclusive) that DropBox (its shell extension in particular) may be involved:
Could you please check that the DropBox software is up-to-date and, if it is, try disabling its shell extension(s) using ShellExView and then rebooting, then seeing if the crash remains?
(If the crash does remain, please see if a new minidump file is created for it.)
After testing, you can re-enable the DropBox shell extensions using ShellExView.
I have had consistent freezes with DOpus in recent weeks. Odd symptoms such as DOpus leaving things in memory even when told to Exit from the Notification area.
We never got to the bottom of it. Even after, as suggested, I disabled all of the links to network resources that I could find. (It would be nice if DOpus had a quick way of listing all those connections, I have dozens of "Favourites" that seek out LAN links.)
This one made me look at the DropBox settings.
I have just disabled "Enable LAN sync" to see if that kills the "hangs".

Just got round to testing this (the weekend got in the way )
I have updated DropBox to version 1.6.5 (it was previously 1.4.20).
I have disabled the all the DropboxExts (Context Menu and Icon Overlay Handlers) and rebooted (and double checked they werestill disabled)
I then acessed the remote PC and the same error occurred.
Unfortunately no minidump was produced.
As soon as I get one I will PM you with it
I have 'Settings > Preferences > Folder Tree > Options > Start Folder Tree at:' set to 'Curent Drive'. DOPus gets the error on this setting i.e. two dialogues and a crash.
If I set the 'Start Folder Tree at:' to 'Desktop' I don't get the error. Only one dialogue opens and when I fill in the password details and click OK it shows the contenst in the lister. When I then expand the remote PC node in the Fiolder Tree - it shows its contents OK.

You could try that too if you haven't already.
Thanks for the suggestion - I have just tried this and it makes no difference - it was worth a try
Turns out that it hasn't fixed my freezes either.
