Quite frequently, DOpus freezes when I double click on my desktop icon. The window opens but then nothing happens. The 'Abort' buttons disappear. The title bar often has 'not responding' in the title.
I cancel the program by right-clicking on the taskbar icon and when I try again, most often DOpus will start properly.
I'm using DOpus version 9.1.0.3 on an XP system (P4/2.4, 2Gb).
What folders is Opus trying to open when you start it it this way? Network folders or any other other removable drives which might not always be present?
Folders from local hard disks. Also, one drive letter is a substitute for another drive (ie drive letter 'B' is a substitute for drive W). No network drives.
I removed the substitute drive but it makes no difference.
I have DOpus set to start at Windows startup with the default lister open. I changed this to not open any listers at startup. but it makes no difference.
Now I double click on the desktop icon but DOpus is failing to start properly on the first attempt. Today I tried clicking on the Abort button - no response.
I click on the close box to cancel DOpus. Then I double click on the desktop icon again and this time it works.
I don't know what job DOpusRT does but it seems to be required by DOpus. Could it be that DOpusRT is loading properly at startup?
My guess is that one of the files in the startup folder is triggering a shell extension, video codec or viewer plugin to crash. See the FAQ on crashes when viewing particular folders for troubleshooting advice.
