DOpus is working in Vista RC1

The good news, Opus is running OK in the RC1 x86 version I got 2 days ago. Hooray.
It's safe to state Opus is easily my most used program along with Ghost.

However, the install, although it went well, when I imported the file I had exported in win XP didn't set it as it was in XP. The toolbar / listermenu & drives bars were the wrong colours, and the two panes along with the files & folders were all wrong, but I got it setup easily.
And the FTP worked when my FTP program WS_FTP Pro would not go out on the 'net.

V8.2.2.3 U is the version I am using, but as I post this I'm downloading the new version.

Just thought I'd mention that most of my software works OK in vista.
I'm glad because I'll buy vista when released, it looks like January is the month for it.

I'm pretty sure that Opus uses the Windows XP default menu and toolbar colors as the default color of its toolbars. So if you never changed the Opus toolbar colors to an explicit color, then it would be logical for these to look different in Vista, since Vista most likely has same color slot defined differently.

I'm very, very sorry about this, but it slipped my mind about this.
I've been working with Vista all day.

anyway, when DOpus is installed, some of the files are missing in the DOpus installed folder. What I did was to go into a windows XP Ghosted image and restore the DOpus folder into the folder where I installed DOpus for vista and it works OK.

Plase Greg , fix it eventually for vista, it's too good a program not to, and you have a very large (if not huge) user base. And Vista is a great OS.

Hmmm...
Brings to mind the thread about running DOpus from a USB key.
running opus from a usb drive

It's still only a prerelease of Vista though. :unamused:

Ummm... sorry, but what does any of this have to do at all with Vista? It sounds like when you exported (I'm assuming you mean DPS file) from your WinXP system, you either did not export your toolbar images, or they did not get 'imported' when you imported your DPS file on the Vista system.

Easy way to tell... rename the .DPS file to .ZIP and open up the Images sub folder inside it. Is the toolbar image file there? If not, where is the image file in your original XP Opus folder located?

You can also go to:

Preferences > Zip > Settings > Extensions

And list the following as .zip compatible file extensions:

.zip;.jar;.dps;.dlt

.dps = Directory Opus Settings File
.dlt = Directory Opus Themes File

both are zip archives. Then if you double click such a file in Opus, it will list it like a .zip archive.

What I did,
I installed Opus in to Vista.
It didn't launch.
I looked into the Opus installed folder and some files & folders were not there.
I searched Vista but no other files or folders were found.

then I copied the missing files & folders into the installed folder, not those already in the installed folder.

Opus ran perfectly.

So I carried on installing my other programs, some worked some didn't.
Then I played with the Vista settings to see what was what.
Anyway, when I had enough of playng about, due to the programs that were installed but won't run. I did another clean install install of Vista.

the first thing I did was install Opus, but I forgot how to do what I did in the first install and I mesed everything up.

a couple of minor bugs i've noticed (this isn't a bug report) - double clicking on a Drive in the File Display won't open it, i have to select the drive in Tree. cool.

i've not been able to make Dopus default to open in place of Win Explorer. have you?

i did the same thing, noticed all the missing files on install, copied SOME over from my XP install. i didn't get my FTP settings, though.

my question to you is, where are the FTP settings stored?

thanks, someone else said they couldn't do without this app - i concur. unless i didn't have a computer. then i guess i could.

FTP settings should be below here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GPSoftware\Directory Opus\Config\User
