Hi,
I've been using DOpus for over a year without problem. Just recently (despite uninstalling, reinstalling, updating the the latest version) it's been hanging on startup.
If I double click the desktop or launch from a shortcut, DOpus frequently gets stuck reading the start-up directory (I've tried My Docs, last used, and Desktop as my startups). I have a dual horizontal display that I've always favoured, and often the file tree on the left won't display at all (i.e. you can still see the desktop underneath) while the duel displays stay blank or 'reading directory'.
I have to ctrl-alt-del force close. While I attempt this, my mouse cursor stutters in movement and the whole computer seems to be unresponsive until DOpus decided to vanish. Usually by this stage both a yellow and blue DOPus icon are visible in the taskbar, though I only opened one instance of the program.
New things that have happened to my PC lately is the introduction of a removable hard drive (seagate) and I am now using a duel monitor set up.
I have tried unplugging and even uninstalling the removeable HD to see if DOpus will behave, and it doesn't.
I'm not an advanced user, and have happily used DOpus for basic file management, finding the duel horizontal set up very useful, and I've also used the FTP features for around a year.
The problems opening DOpus happen for 70% of my open attempts. Oddly, after a crash, or if I'm just lucky, DOpus will behave brilliantly. It seems random, and happens whether I'm just using Outlook and browsing the web or if I'm using Photoshop or am jumping in and out of games.
I'm at the stage where i have to uninstall it to get some stability on my PC and to be able to perform basic file management. I'd rather not go back to Explorer though, so does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?
I'm using Windows XP, service pack 3, using an intel core duo 6400, 4 gig of ram (though the system only uses 3), and apart from the changes mentioned above, no hardware to coincide with the problems. Current DOpus v. 9.5.0.0.3565.x86
