I'm using Macrium Reflect to backup my drives and if I double-click on an image file in DO I get an access failed error message that comes from Reflect. However if I right-click the image file and click on the default item in the context menu which is explore image it works fine. What is different between the double-click and the default item on the context menu. Is there a way to modify the double-click function?
The easiest way to change what double-click does is to right-click and use the Open With menu to change the default program for that file type.
(There are several other ways, if that doesn't work, but it's usually the most straight forward one.)
That doesn't help, it gives the same result.
I just noticed that this is only an issue if I have 'Hide Windows items on file context menus' enabled. Why is the default action using the associated application and not the default action from the context menu when that option is enabled?
The problem is that this particular application needs an argument to load the image as a drive.
The bold item in the context menu is not always the same as the double-click action in Opus, especially if other items (one of which may be the real default) have been forced out of the menu by hiding them. (The bold item is largely irrelevant, to be honest, so I would ignore it.)
You can use Settings > File Types to change double-click actions on types in an Opus-specific way if Open With isn't doing the job for some reason.
Unfortunately that doesn't work either... I guess I'll have to skip the hide setting.
You should be able to set any command you want via there.

What are you aiming to do?
(e.g. Run "C:\Program Files\Some\Thing.exe" and pass it the name of the selected file, when double-clicking files of type .xyz)
